Expectations of Council Members
Each Florida Councilor is expected to assist members in their district and spread the word about activities taken on their behalf by the Chapter. Specific duties are as follows:

1. Membership: Encourage new membership and emphasize continual membership in the American College of Cardiology and Florida Chapter through conversation and letters/calls to non-members. Lists of such members will be provided by the Chapter Office.

2. Government Relations: Identify a key contact in the district to assist members in contacting Legislators and responding to legislative alerts. Enlist support for state legislative issues which may affect cardiovascular medicine. Contact Legislators with the Chapter’s position on legislation as requested. Meet once a year with your state and federal representative to begin or continue a relationship.

3. Communications: Serve as an alternate communications center by contacting members in the district when an urgent response is needed.

4. Name an Alternate: Upon assuming office, District Councilors must forward a name for approval by the FCACC Executive Committee and Council who will be the designated alternate.

5. Council Meetings: Attend twice yearly in-person council meetings and ad hoc conference calls or assure representation to the meeting by the designated alternate.

6. Chapter Annual Meeting: Attend the chapter meeting each year and encourage members in the district to attend.

7. Committee Service: Serve on one FCACC committee, if requested.
